Many animators are motorbike or car buffs and frequently feature their favorite make or model in their works. In recent times, even the car manufacturers are getting into the act.

We bring you a special on the online anime PES: Peace Eco Smile, which was recently showcased at the ANIME EXPO 2012 in Los Angles, the biggest event of its kind in the United States. The anime is a collaboration between the global car manufacturing giant Toyota, and Studio 4°C, which is internationally renowned for works by the likes of Studio Ghibli and Katsuhiro Otomo.

The animation, based on car design data furnished by Toyota, is very convincing and almost looks like scale models of genuine vehicles. So what is the objective and what does each side ultimately hope to gain in this collaboration between these two internationally renowned entities? We delve into the possibilities and the truth behind this animation project which has its sights set on an international audience.

*The car industry and the animators are both devoted to craftsmanship. We look at the synergy that could ultimately result and exceed mutual expectations.
