Thai-Japanese fashion links!
Thailand is emerging on the Asian fashion scene as the economy grows. Many Japanese textile companies now have production bases in Bangkok and recently participated in the country's largest trade show in the genre - BIFF, the 2012 Bangkok International Fashion Fair. Thai brands already had a name for distinctive colors and stitching and now the use of Japanese textiles is raising them to new heights and promising to make inroads to Japanese market. The Japanese makers are also helping through Japanese-Thai partnerships and Thailand's own youth fashion culture has boomed in the past decade, too, with the rapid rise of middle-income households. Korean fashion became huge and now Japanese real clothes are in vogue with Japanese dresses leading the way in the Bangkok boutiques. Boutiques and designers from both countries are collaborating. We report on the multi-faceted developments in Japan-Thailand fashion exchange.
