NIPPON STYLE:
Ever-evolving Japanese denim takes world limelight!
The Hiroshima-based Kaihara company has transformed itself from being a longstanding maker of the Japanese Bingo-kasuri fabric into a top maker of jeans fabric instead. It already had the splashed pattern and indigo dyeing techniques and the secret to growth then came down to its ability to propose new fabric. In the case of denim, it's the final, variable complexion which matters the most after the dyeing is done. Kaihara does it all itself from spinning to weaving and dyeing and its denims just keep on evolving. The "used jeans" fabrics made with washing and bleaching techniques developed in Japan are now premium global products and being used in multifarious ways by makers all over the market!
