Fashion Week Tokyo Special 2

Here's the second section of a 2-part feature in which talented young designers taking part in Fashion Week Tokyo from October 13th-19th talk about their design philosophy and methods.

NIPPON STYLE:
Breaking New Ground of Neo Classic with "Crossed Culture"

Designer Atsushi Nakashima learned the ropes at the global Jean Paul Gaultier brand and made an impressive solo debut in the 2012 Autumn/Winter collection. Nakashima says he was influenced by the "avant-garde but classical" aspects of Gaultier and sought in his first collection to focus in diverse ways on the forms that people find beautiful - including the "linear futuristic," "natural curves" and "traditional aesthetics grounded in history". He came to fashion via a regular office job after being unable to abandon his high-school dream of becoming a fashion designer. He studied at a fashion school and worked at a sewing factory to learn dress-making techniques. He won the Onward Fashion Grand Prix while still there and that was how he was scouted by Gaultier, who was a member of the jury. In France, Nakashima started out as an assistant but rose to be head designer of the ready-made clothing section. He then came back to Japan in 2011 to launch his own private brand, Atsush i Nakashima, building on that experience in France. From leading a large team at Gaultier he is now on his own - he says it's a lonely battle but he is ambitious and motivated. His second collection in the Spring/Summer 2013 Japan Fashion Week will be a meeting of Japanese and Western styles ("Crossed Culture"). We observe the processes of creation.

TOKYO BUZZ: Leather Items

Leather is in this autumn. Our top recommendation is fake-leather skirts with flared profiles. There are also the part-leather shirts and riding jacket for hard coordination!

I can't re-post files, sorry. The exception is files that are less than a day old. All mediafire links are broken forever. If you ask nicely and show that you tried but couldn't find the file elsewhere, someone may share it again.
