Venetia prepares the rose geraniums in her garden to survive the winter. A neighbor teaches her how to make sacred rope. She finds a quince tree while out for a walk and makes quince wine and paste with quinces she is given. She also visits a sake brewery in the Fushimi district of Kyoto.
