Provincial cities don't appear at first sight to have much to do with the radical concepts, sharp expression and far-reaching allure that underpin the best of Japanese fashion. But in fact top foreign brands have been placing orders directly with local workshops in recent years and the technical prowess and creative craft spirit are held in high esteem. The Japanese economy may be struggling but the skilled, creative designers and small and medium sized firms are drawing increasing attention to the fashion power of the provinces. We look at the present and future of the fashion that emanates from provincial Japan with both new reportage and items from previous broadcasts.

The strategy covers the range from mass production to fashion knitwear. We visit the place where the vanguard fashions are created.
