This edition of journeys in japan features Okinawan pottery.
Okinawa is renowned for its arts and crafts, including pottery. Called Yachimun in the local dialect, the wares feature simple shapes and bold designs, which match the rhythm of island life. US-native Kenny Ehman has been living on Okinawa's main island for the past 20 years where he runs a guesthouse. He is also the author of a comprehensive guide on the islands' culture and recommended travel destinations. Kenny will introduce us to his favorite local craft, pottery.

Tsuboya yachimun street
The pottery district is called Tsuboya Yachimun Street. Ever since the Ryukyu Administration gathered the many pottery kilns and artists that were spread out over Okinawa 300 years ago this part of Naha has been known as a pottery town.

I can't re-post files, sorry. The exception is files that are less than a day old. All mediafire links are broken forever. If you ask nicely and show that you tried but couldn't find the file elsewhere, someone may share it again.
