Dress scientist Eri Matsui's creations are based on the academic study of form. Everything is carefully calculated. She has been participating in the Tokyo Collection since 1999, drawing attention for her collaborations with mathematicians and physicists on such themes as topology, the brain and 3-D. This fusing with science and math is surely unique in the world of fashion and has given rise to her cool cutting techniques which make the very most of corporeal beauty. She says that you must have a scientific mind in order to make the perfectly fitting dress. She started an outer space and fashion project in 2005 and designed a dress that would be beautiful even in zero gravity. We watch as she makes a vanguard dress.
