Hayate the Combat Butler - The Animation
The well-loved Hayate the Combat Butler action comedy manga has been running in Weekly Shonen Sunday since 2004. It's the story of unlucky high-school boy Hayate Ayasaki, who takes part-time jobs to support his extravagant parents and becomes the live-in butler for a super-rich high-school girl, Nagi Sanzenin. The two get into all sorts of scrapes together, both funny and serious, and some that lead to fierce battles as well! It has been serialized in cartoon form on TV twice and a cartoon film, Hayate the Combat Butler - HEAVEN IS A PLACE ON EARTH, was released in August 2011 in Japan. A new TV series, Hayate the Combat Butler - CAN'T TAKE MY EYES OFF YOU, with a whole new story written by the manga author, Kenjiro Hata, started in Japan earlier this month and the fans are over the moon! Animation production company Manglobe is the same firm that did the film. Here's a backstage report on how it's all done!
Creator's interview: YORIYASU Japanese Animation Director
Yoriyasu from Nara Prefecture used to climb electricity poles and drive heavy vehicles for a power company. In 2002, he headed for Tokyo to be an artist instead. He has worked as an illustrator, designer, art director and art planner before becoming an animation director. This creator is one of a kind.
