Japan and China normalized diplomatic relations 40 years ago in 1972. We peer behind the scenes at the comprehensive Japan-China trade memorandum of 1962, our focus on Tatsunosuke Takasaki, the man who initiated it, and the leaders' talks between Zhou Enlai and Masayoshi Ohira, presenting new documents and interviews on how those negotiations dealt with the Senkaku islands and differing perceptions of history.
