'ULTRA-TRAIL Mt. FUJI (UTMF)', first ever 100 mile race in Asia, outrageous in its scale and ultra-challenging, was held from May 18th to 20th. Fierce battle between world class top runners to become the first winner of this 156km trail race was unfurled. Start/finish point is Lake Kawaguchi, with the race course compassing Mt. Fuji clockwise along the ridgeway of outer rim overlooking the Fuji Five Lakes, going through mountain tracks and outskirt nature paths. Ascending and descending the trail under the time limit of 48 hours, 852 competitors continued their race while receiving nutritional support at 11 aid stations along the course.

While top athletes retired one after another of injuries or hypothermia symptoms from night time chill, Julian Chorier of France and Adam Campbell of Canada went down to the wire.

The 3 day race was blessed with fine weather and front view of Mt. Fuji appreciated throughout the course, which is rare condition in May, when clouds cover Mt. Fuji even on fine days. Enjoy the 360-degree view of splendid and mystic Mt. Fuji, with our re-edited aerial filming including the surrounding mountain tracks taken from choppers and close range airborne imagery from radio-controlled helicopters.
