Shinya Yamanaka, Nobel Winner: iPS Cell Revolution
It was announced on October 8th that Professor Shinya Yamanaka of Kyoto University had been chosen as a winner of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. That award came remarkably swiftly only 6 years after he had produced iPS cells that could develop into any organ or other bodily structure. In this long interview, Yamanaka takes us behind the scenes leading up to the Nobel Prize. We also discuss the iPS cell revolution in medicine and consider its wider impact across the life sciences.
