Japan 7 Days - 2012/11/16

Nov. 16, Fri.

Izumo, the birthplace of legends, celebrates Japan's oldest history book

The Kojiki, Records of Ancient Matters, is Japan's oldest extant history book. It depicts the origins of the civilization, its history, and legends of ancient emperors and empresses. About one third of the book consists of myths, most of which are set in the region of Izumo in today's Shimane Prefecture.
This year marks the 1,300th anniversary of the Kojiki's compilation. Celebrations in Izumo are attracting tourists from around the country. Our program visits the eminent Izumo Taisha Shinto shrine, the legendary mountain of Sentsuzan, and an exhibition at the Tokyo National Museum, exploring why ancient myths resonate with people of today.

I can't re-post files, sorry. The exception is files that are less than a day old. All mediafire links are broken forever. If you ask nicely and show that you tried but couldn't find the file elsewhere, someone may share it again.
