The ceiling of the temple hall is adorned with woodcarvings by Ishikawa Uncho, a master of the Edo period. The high-relief carvings seem almost take on a life of their own with such intricate, sensitive detail and vibrant color. Many visitors find themselves staring up in wonder at this ornate ceiling.
