NHK World responded to my Cool Japan inquiry/complaint and said that there is no Cool Japan available for streaming until May 13 due to licensing issues. They wrote that it will be available only on their "primary service of television broadcasting" until then, which probably explains why I couldn't see it on JIBtv last week either. Anyways I'll check JIBtv during show times but don't get your hopes up.

Cool Japan is broadcast on MHz Worldview in the San Francisco area at 12:10 am Sunday morning (carried by KCSM tv station over the air, and channel 198 on comcast cable). MHz broadcasts a one hr block of NHK programming at midnite and 1 pm west coast time most days. It is also streamed online at http://www.mhznetworks.org/. I'll check tonight to see if the online stream is also blocked like the NHK site. Last week Cool Japan was broadcast on the local TV station.

Cool Japan (current program on trends) did broadcast on MHz Worldview in the San Francisco area at 12:10 am Sunday morning (in standard definition), but unfortunately the online stream at http://www.mhznetworks.org/ switched to Aljazerra instead of the normal NHK programming.
