NIPPON STYLE: Organic Haute Couture - Yoshiki Hishinuma, Designer
Yoshiki Hishinuma made a striking impression with his debut "wind dresses" in the eighties, starting out in Milan and adding the Paris Collection as well in 1992. He's known for bold colors, new materials such as film, and unique designs that seem to stem from the world of contemporary art. Hishinuma pushed out in a new direction in 2010 with the launch of a new, green, eco-friendly fashion brand using organic materials, his first new brand in 5 years. His haute couture for the Autumn/Winter Paris collection in January this year also featured organic materials for the first time. Here is a close-up report on a designer who now insists on using Japanese techniques in creating fashions for the world.
