The blossoms are bringing the fragrance of spring to Ohara in Kyoto and Venetia is planting Indian cress in her garden. She then visits the Raigo-in temple with her friends to hear the chief priest recite a "shomyo" Buddhist chant. Back home, Venetia cooks a herbal pilaf with her grandson, Joe.
