He made his debut 50 years ago. Nobuyoshi Araki is a photographer who calls himself a genius. He takes everything from the erotic and grotesque to cute pictures of pet cats and has already published over 400 albums. Takeshi chooses some of his favorites from Araki's huge oeuvre and sets out to meet the master at a Shinjuku bar.

Araki is still taking photos daily even while battling prostate cancer. Here, through Takeshi's choice of his best shots, is an in-depth analysis of the allure of this photographer who fixes his gaze on questions of life and death. Two geniuses get together for a frank and serious discussion of the art of photography.

I like this portrait. What a great person! The face in the picture is the face she was showing at that moment, of course. But everything that went before, to everything that came after the photo-it's all shown in the face at that moment. It's great. All her joy is on display.
