Justin & Manga Artist: Norifusa Mita
Norifusa Mita became an office worker out of university but changed course to draw manga instead and his Doragon Zakura series in Weekly Morning won the Kodansha Manga Award in 2005. He also authored KUROKAN and Ookiku Furikabutte, both on high school baseball themes.
His latest work, Suna no Eikan, is about high school baseball, too, but with the unusual plot of the ace pitcher hero trying to make his way to the national high school championship using 10 million yen he has been given.
It's Mita's first long, high school baseball manga in a while and the theme of baseball and money has certainly grabbed people's attention - there have been many great baseball manga but not with a story like this. Mita's research and role-play game-like elements are also extraordinary. We discover what lies behind it all.
