Starting in 2000 with the TV cartoon series BLOOD THE LAST VAMPIRE, we have since already been through BLOOD+ and BLOOD-C The three horror cartoons all feature the girl heroine Saya, who slashes her way through man-eating ghouls with amazing skill using her Japanese sword. Made by Production I.G, also responsible for GHOST IN THE SHELL, they have become a global hit with broadcasts in North America, Australia, Britain and South Africa just a week after being aired in Japan. The much-awaited latest addition to the series is a film which opened in cinemas across Japan last month, BLOOD-C The Last Dark. We look back over the entire series and reflect on the attractions of this widely acclaimed modern Japanese horror.
BLOOD-C The Last Dark was produced with overseas distribution in mind from the start. We discover both the attention to detail and the global strategy.
