Protecting marine resources and establishing sustainable fishing are global issues that are growing in importance, as the environment of the planet changes.

Hints for solutions can be found in fishing villages across Japan, according to Anne McDonald, a Canadian expert on environmental sociology. She conducted field studies in some 2,000 such villages, where experience has been acquired through constant dialogue with nature. Fishing communities in Japan have overcome various problems, including pollution, urbanization, and even natural disasters. The program examines their resilience as models for sustainable fishing that can work across the globe.

The program accompanies McDonald to Hegura-jima, an island off the Noto Peninsula facing the Sea of Japan; Hinase, along the Seto Inland Sea in Okayama Prefecture; and Karakuwa, a northeastern coastal community in Miyagi Prefecture.

I can't re-post files, sorry. The exception is files that are less than a day old. All mediafire links are broken forever. If you ask nicely and show that you tried but couldn't find the file elsewhere, someone may share it again.
