Actor Taiyo Sugiura and spirited chef hit the road on a kitchen wagon to hunt for local ingredients throughout Japan. Original recipes are inspired through interactions with local farmers and fishermen, and they are invited to savor the menu in glorious natural surroundings.

Explore fascinating seasonal food and be amazed by professional culinary skills and innovative recipe together with the area's unknown stunning scenery, while understanding the passion and humanity of producer family over generations.

Family entertainment program filled with travel referential and useful information!

In this edition, kitchen wagon heads for Shonai district of Yamagata prefecture, famous for abundant blessings from both sea and mountains. Surrounded by Chokaizan Mountain and Dewa-sanzan Mountains in east, Japan Sea in west, and fertile land spreading along Mogamigawa River, the area is literally 'capitol of foodstuff', with bountiful seasonal harvests from land and sea. Accompanying us is Hidehiro Yoshioka, up-and-coming chef, gaining much popularity for his original Japanese dishes backed up by sure skills.

Our first encounter with local ingredients is red leek of Sakata City (former Hirata-cho) with its bottom half colored in bright red. Dating back its cultivation since Edo period, red leek has stronger hotness compared to the usual white kinds, but it changes to outstanding sweetness after heating! Exquisite ingredients of Tohoku region flows on: the region's traditional taro 'karatori-imo' with smooth, rich texture and elegant aroma, and fine sake lees from sake brewery established some 200 years ago. The 2 presenters move on to the largest harbor in the prefecture, Yura Fishery Harbor of Tsuruoka City. Pier gets lively with landing of yoshigani, local name for snow crab, an irresistible autumn flavor with firm and sweet meat.

Discovering fresh and vigorous ingredients from land and sea, Taiyo and Yoshioka realize the 'fundamental power of Tohoku'. Watch them interact with the local producers and deliver smiling faces upon people of Tohoku with surprising original recipe.
