TAKESHI Art Beat - 2012/09/06 - Ken Okuyama, Car Designer

Sep. 6, Thu.
Ken Okuyama - Car Designer for the World

Ken Okuyama
Born in Yamagata Prefecture in 1959.
The first Japanese chief designer at Italian design company Pininfarina S.p.A., he has handled car designs for Enzo Ferrari, Maserati Quattroporte and others. Acclaimed as the first non-Italian Ferrari designer.
Takeshi visits Ken Okuyama's studio in Yamagata and loses no time in trying out the latest model. After years of searching, Okuyama's answer is to design what people really want even when it isn't needed. Takeshi loves cars and homes in on Okuyama's design philosophy. Okuyama also takes Takeshi to an old foundry where Okuyama breathes new life into past ways by adding his flair for design to exquisite traditional skills. It transpires that there really are shared elements, whether designing kettles or Ferraris.

TAKESHI's VOICE
TAKESHI's VOICE

People say that young girls in Japan now are so fashionable. But then you see them all rushing to bargain sales. I wonder if kids today ever patch their clothes. I think if it's a really nice clothing item, I'll wear it even if it's patched up. If you just throw something out when it rips, what's the point? Patch it up and it acquires more character. Otherwise it's boring.

I can't re-post files, sorry. The exception is files that are less than a day old. All mediafire links are broken forever. If you ask nicely and show that you tried but couldn't find the file elsewhere, someone may share it again.
